One of the bravest things we can do as parents is to really look at the child in front of us - not the one we imagined having, or the one society expects us to have, or the one books and websites describe. It’s a process of learning to discover who they truly are - body, soul and spirit - leaving room for growth and change along the way. When a parent truly sees and understands their child, it helps to create a healthy and secure attachment.

Moving to Costa Rica is rarely just a physical relocation; it is a spiritual "unfolding." As we leave behind the rigid structures of the North, we enter a land of immense vitality and "out-breath." For the child, who is still deeply in the process of incarnating - of finding their way into their physical body and the world - this vastness can feel both wondrous and overwhelming.

We are currently standing at a frontier. Behind us lies a crumbling industrial model of education designed for a world that no longer exists. Ahead of us is a mist-covered landscape shaped by Artificial Intelligence, shifting job markets, and a fundamental questioning of the "university-to-career" pipeline.

As an educator for 25 years and a mother, I see the confusion in parents' eyes. They ask: How will my child be ready for university in ten years? What jobs will even exist? How do we compete with machines?

The answer isn't to make our children more like computers. It is to make them more vibrantly, defiantly human.

As a parent, I never wanted to be untruthful with my child. Yet, I have always held in my heart a deep belief in the forces we cannot easily describe - the powerful, invisible influences…archetypes of generosity that guide us. I believe that "truth" isn’t always provable or tangible. It is the magic of the unexplainable, the inspiration when we least expect it, the warmth of a feeling, the power of a memory. There is magic in the world - if you choose to believe.

This is our quiet resistance, our boldest act of defiance against forces that seek to darken the human spirit. Joy is not passivity. It is not ignorance. It is a radical force, a transmutation of the energy that could otherwise spiral into hatred or fear. And gratitude is its gateway.
